Dirty Diamonds: covered and sampled

Posted by keepitcoming on March 7, 2006

My March 2nd post dealt with the dancefloor-friendly side of the Dirty Diamonds compilations (by the D*I*R*T*Y crew), but now is the time for some more laid-back action with a twist. The Bronski Beat cover was recorded in 2005 by one half of French freak folk duo Herman Düne. The William Sheller track was his first release ever in 1975, composed for a friend’s wedding and later “borrowed” by Dan The Automator for his space hip hopera. Short for Lassigue Bendthaus, LB is one of Uwe Schmidt’s many pseudonyms: you may know him as Señor Coconut, Atom Heart, Flanger, Erik Satin… Here he provides a faithful clicks’n’cuts 2000 version of the Rolling Stones classic.
