Haunted House

Posted by keepitcoming on February 15, 2006

The term was coined by Mark Pytlik in his 8.6 Pitchfork review, and it certainly is a clever description of the new album by The Knife, Silent Shout, out today in the brother-sister duo’s native Sweden. While I wasn’t too keen on Deep Cuts (too heavy on the steel drum samples, too reminiscent of Jean-Michel Jarre at times), I find myself liking this one much more. It has a heavier, darker vibe which suits Karin Dreijer’s manipulated voice best. This shift in sound was foreshadowed by Radio 1‘s OneMusic Session and a cut off the Hannah Med H Soundtrack turned Deep Cuts bonus track in Europe.

EDIT: See this Gorilla vs. Bear post for more tracks from Silent Shout at Analog Giant.
